BTS Gwanghwamun Live 'ARIRANG': Essential Subway Bypass & Station Closure Guide (Must-Read for International ARMY)

1. 2026 BTS Comeback Live: Major Crowd and Traffic Warning

Finally! Tomorrow, March 21, 2026, BTS will take the stage at Gwanghwamun Square for their full-group comeback live, 'ARIRANG'. With hundreds of thousands of fans expected to gather in the heart of Seoul, the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Seoul Metro have announced extraordinary measures for public safety.

To prevent overcrowding, major subway stations near the venue will bypass (not stop) or be completely closed. If you are heading to the event, please read this guide carefully to ensure you don't miss the show because of a closed station!

2. Detailed Station Closures & Bypass Schedule (Saturday, March 21)

Trains will skip the following stations during these peak times. Plan your arrival accordingly!

① Line 5 - Gwanghwamun Station: FULL CLOSURE

  • Skip-Stop (Bypass) Time: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

  • Details: All Line 5 trains will pass through Gwanghwamun Station without stopping.

  • Exits: All exits (1–9) will be completely blocked. You cannot enter or exit the station during this time.

② Line 1 & 2 - City Hall Station: RESTRICTED ACCESS

  • Skip-Stop (Bypass) Time: 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM

  • Transfer Info: Internal transfers between Line 1 and Line 2 are allowed, but exiting to the street level is blocked. If you need to reach the surface, you must use a different station.

  • Skip-Stop (Bypass) Time: 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM

  • Note: This station is closed to manage the flow of fans coming from the northern side of the square.

3. [Pro Tip] Recommended Alternative Stations & Walking Routes

Don't panic! You can still reach the venue by getting off at these nearby stations. In fact, walking from these stations might be faster than trying to push through the main crowd.

[Table: Alternative Stations & Walking Distance to Gwanghwamun Square]

Your LineRecommended Station (Exit)Walking TimeTravel Tip
Line 1Jonggak Stn. (Exit 1)~7 minsClosest route, easy flat walk.

4. Heading Home After the Show (Last Train Info)

The concert ends around 10:00 PM, and everyone will leave at once. Gwanghwamun Station might stay closed even after the performance for safety.

  • Extended Services: Seoul Metro will extend the service of Lines 1, 2, 3, and 5 by 30 to 60 minutes. For the exact last train times for each line, please check my post: [BTS ARIRANG Last Train Schedule Total Guide].

5. FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: What if I don't have a transportation card (T-Money)?

A: Ticket machines at nearby stations will be extremely crowded. We strongly suggest topping up your T-Money card in advance or using a Mobile T-Money/Climate Card on your phone.

Q: Can I use the luggage lockers at the station?

A: No. Lockers inside Gwanghwamun Station will be inaccessible during the closure. Nearby stations like Jonggak or Seodaemun will likely be full by the morning. Travel as light as possible!
